Sunday evening is our music night showcasing the acoustic side of local musical talent. As an added feature, Martine’s also displays a distinctive selection of art by well known local artists.
Larissa McLean is a new resident of the Comox Valley and a recent Alchemist. She comes with a plethora of art skills and fifteen years’ teaching experience. She has a BFA in printmaking and holds a current teaching certificate for Alberta and British Columbia.
Larissa has been painting for over 20 years and is knowledgeable in mixed-media and fluid acrylics. She is currently enrolled at North Island College, upgrading her knowledge in non-toxic printmaking techniques.
Her visions in fluid acrylics and watercolour are of nature: images warm and inviting, to mysterious and distant, each a distillation of recent experiences imbued with the energy of her own feelings at the moment. Some paintings take multiple sessions spanning weeks, while others are created in just a few hours.
Jeff is a new arrival to Vancouver Island, coming from Calgary where he has been a fixture on the jazz scene. He has played across Canada with numerous groups, most notably with his trio, Sinistrio (www.sinistrio.com).
Larry Ayre draws on all his experience with a “Bach to the Blues” approach. From Spanish Romance to Georgia on My Mind with the Girl From Ipanema in between. You can hear several examples of his music by visiting www.larryayreguitarist.com.
